Welcome to District 7, where the towns are small and the hearts are big. I come from a school of a few people and many farm animals with Lake Norman out our back door. I am Marideth Forbes-Robinson, your 2018-2019 1st Vice President from Bandys High.
Are you looking for fun activities in District 7? Look no further. A few of my favorite destinations in Catawba County, where I have grown up, are the Hickory Crawdads Stadium, Catawba County Science Center, Murray’s Mill Historic District and many other beautiful, fun places. Need more adventure? There are plenty more cool places to visit in our district. In Ashe County, be sure to stop through and check out the Ashe County Cheese Factory to watch them make their delicious cheese and go across the street to taste and purchase in their store. In Watauga County, dare to experience the gravity defying Mystery Hill, hop on a few roller coasters at Tweetsie Railroad, or take a nice hike at Grandfather Mountain State Park. In Avery County, skip your way down the yellow brick road and visit the Land of Oz. If you are a fan of the movie Hunger Games and would like to see the village Katniss grew up in, stop by Henry River Ghost Town District 12 Hunger Games Film Location. I highly recommend to stroll through Mayberry (Yes, the one from the Andy Griffith Show) in Surry County and don’t forget to pop into the Andy Griffith Museum as well. If you are fond of animals, like most of the folk I live near, you will thoroughly enjoy Lazy 5 Ranch in Rowan County or Zootastic in Iredell County. The list of adventure our district provides goes on and on. From hikes up beautiful mountains, crossing creeks, coasting down the blue ridge parkway, mesmerizing museums, and historic parks. I am proud to call District 7 my home!
